The story goes that a limping monk walked these streets in the sixteenth century, and that nobody could explain the limp. The beer explains it well enough. Never bottled: you drink it here, from the tap.

The legend

The monk with the limp

De Manke Monnik is our tripel: sweet and spicy notes in balance, warming, 7,2%. It has been on our taps since 2007 and it is the most-rated beer of the house on Untappd. It has never been bottled. You drink it here, from the tap, or not at all.

The story goes that a monk with a limp walked these streets in the sixteenth century, between the convents of the old city, and that nobody could ever explain the limp. The cobbles, a fall, a long road from somewhere far away: the brewery's answer is in the glass. A tripel of 7,2% explains a limp well enough. He is a tale from the tap, not a page from the archives, and we like him that way.

Give it time, and give it food that can stand up to it: a rumpsteak from the grill (300 g, €20,90), the T-bone steak (€37,90), or the cheese platter (small €9,90, large €16,90) at the end of the evening.
